- The Orientation and Safety Training is an integral part of the HCA 75-hour course, aimed at introducing new Home Care Aides to the fundamentals of caregiving and ensuring their awareness of critical safety protocols. This training sets the foundation for a safe and effective caregiving environment, both for the caregivers and the clients they serve. - Requirement: A computer with audio/video capability is required; mobile devices are not recommended. - Additional Notes: Although the course includes 8 hours of Zoom sessions, you are welcome to attend in person if you prefer. - Examination and Certification: At the end of the course, on the same day, you will take an exam. You must score 80% or higher to pass the exam and receive a certificate. If you do not pass the exam on the first attempt, you will have two additional attempts. The additional attempts can be taken the same day or at any time within the next year, during which you will have access to the exam. If you do not pass the exam after three attempts, you will need to retake the course. Once you pass the exam, the DSHS-approved certificate will be emailed to you the same day.
